The Problem
CommonUX carried decisions in static styles rather than a scalable variable structure. Theming was fragile, component behaviour drifted between teams, and there was no shared colour logic for charts and dashboards — teams were making local decisions in trust-sensitive parts of the UI.
The Solution
Migrated the system from static styles into a variable-driven architecture so colour, spacing, typography, and theming decisions could be expressed once and reused coherently. Redesigned the system to ABB's new visual identity and created a data visualisation colour system for engineering teams.
